FAQ
End-of-service gratuity is the service-based benefit, often called EOSB. The final settlement can also include outstanding salary, unused leave, notice pay and contractual payments. This gratuity calculator does not automatically add those other amounts.
Yes, if you choose the applicable employment regime. The city alone does not determine the formula. Federal rules cover mainland employment and many free zones; DMCC publishes calculation guidance, while DIFC and ADGM have separate rules.
DMCC: gratuity using published zone guidance. ADGM: gratuity using confirmed service. DIFC: monthly DEWS contributions at 5.83% and 8.33%, not the fund balance. Pre-1 February 2020 gratuity rights need a separate assessment.
Not under the current federal formula used here. Resignation, expiry and dismissal do not trigger the old one-third or two-thirds reductions. Lawful deductions and other settlement items are separate. Historical exits require their own assessment.
Common differences are whether the last date is included, a 365-day versus calendar-year service convention, a monthly ÷ 30 versus annual ÷ 365 daily rate, early rounding and different cap assumptions. This tool exposes its method and rounds the final amount only.
In federal mode, actual days include 29 February. Article 67 defines a year as 365 days and a month as 30 days. Eligible days are divided by 365. ADGM uses your confirmed service in years; DIFC shows monthly contributions.
Federal Article 53 specifies 14 days from the end of the contract; ADGM specifies 21 calendar days. DIFC and savings schemes have separate rules. A projection is not itself a payment demand.
Federal gratuity uses basic wage, with total wage needed for the two-year cap. ADGM and DIFC require the calculation base to be at least 50% of total wage. Variable pay and enhanced contractual terms need separate review.
